CONFIRMACIÓN DE LA NIDIFICACIÓN DEL ÁNADE AZULÓN Anas platyrhynchos EN LA ISLA DE FORMENTERA

Confirmation of breeding by the Mallard Anas platyrhynchos on the island of Formentera. Breeding was confirmed in 2005 of Anas platyrhynchos on the island of Formentera, with the discovery of two pairs in the former saltpansystem of Estany Pudent. The bibliography gives no mention of breeding by the Mallard on Formentera, its status on the isle being a common winter visitor. The only previous breeding reference was of an occurrence designated as probable in 2003. It has been a breeding species on the neighbouring island of Ibiza since 1998. An analysis of habitat distribution and associations in theOdonata of theBalearic Islands, Spain

 Spatial structure of the odon. community is analysed. The different abundance of the spp. and their most characteristic habitats in the islands are indicated. The reproduction of 19 spp. on the Balearic Islands is confirmed. Coenagrion scitulum is recorded for the first time from the archipelago. The associations of spp. existing on each of the islands were established by meansof factoranalysis (correspondence analysis); a total of9 associations are defined. This study has been made on larvae exclusively. Sympetrum striolatum is the most abundant sp. in the Balearic Islands. Previous records are discussed. Origin and abundance of beach debris in the Balearic Islands

RESUMEN: ORIGEN Y ABUNDANCIA DE RESIDUOS EN PLAYAS DE LAS ISLAS BALEARES. En un estudio realizado durante el año 2005 se analizó la abundancia, naturaleza y posibles orígenes de los residuos presentes en 32 playas de las Islas Baleares (mar Mediterráneo). La abundancia media de objetos en verano fue de aproximadamente 36 objetos por metro lineal, con un peso correspondiente de 32±25 g por metro lineal, lo cual es comparable a otros estudios en el Mediterráneo. El estudio mediante análisis multivariantes (Análisis de Componentes Principales y Análisis de Redundancia) confirma importantes similitudes entre islas, además de una evolución estacional estadísticamente significante en la composición y abundancia de los residuos. La contaminación durante el verano, expresada en términos de abundancia de objetos en la playa, duplica el valor registrado en invierno. Planta del Mes núm. 1: Esperó de Formentera

 L'esperó de Formentera és un tàxon de descripció recent, descobert a l'illa de Formentera, d'on és endèmic. És conegut d'una única localitat, on té diversos nuclis poblacionals petits i un nombre d'efectius molt baix.
